X From what I've seen, S1 is pure vaporware at present. As near as I can deduce, there is a Mr. Brains who did is Master's on the topic, and a Mr. Hype who is trying to sell it. In the June issue of "Systems and Software", they have a full-page ad, claiming to be the world's first 4th generation operating system. If UNIX (TM) is a dinosaur, then why does their ad claim "Unix source compatible"? You can call for a free S1 book at (609) 969-4100. I haven't. In the July "Systems and Software" there is an extensive article by Mr. John Little about S1. He claims it can read files from CP/M, MP/M-II, MS-DOS, Unix, Xenix, p-System, Flex, IBM 3741, DEC files 11, Snobol, and LISP. He also claims it will run on Z80, 68020, 80286, 16032, and any other 8, 16, or 32 bit system. He also claims to have Ada, PL/1, Modula, Cobol, Pascal, ANSI Basic, Fortran 77, and C. He says everything is written in "SL Language" which is "like Pascal" He says it supports many types of files, and three levels of networking. It is also suited for real-time data acquisition, supports bit-mapped displays with full windowing, screen management, and editing, virtual memory, etc, etc. Hi-res graphics, Unix source compatibility, and virtual memory LISP on a Z80. Right. I'm from Missouri. -- Brent Laminack (akgua!itm!brent)
