eugene@ames.UUCP (Eugene Miya) (08/17/84)
I am posting the following for another person PLEASE reply to her directly and not to me. (--eugene) I am interested in evaluating the most common implementations of Unix (i.e. 4.2 BSD, System V & Xenix) with regards to: 1) Ease of use (user-interface) 2) Implementation details (i.e. virtual memory) 3) Target machines (i.e. VAX, 68000, 8086, etc.) The eventual goal is to decide on which Unix system to bring up on a proprietary machine (that is still in the design stages). Can anyone point me to a good article which addresses some/all of these issues, or even send me useful tips off the top of your head? I'll summarize and post the results to net.unix if it seems appropriate. Much Obliged, Amy Jo Bilson {hplabs, hao}!ames!aurora!amyjo ames!aurora!amyjo@riacs.ARPA
