We just got our System V.2 release, and it came with a third tape containing the source to the Documenter Workbench. We don't run V.2 (4.2bsd actually), but we would like to read the tape. According to the label there are two files (blocksize=512bytes) on the tape, but it does not give a format. It says something descriptive like: LOAD PROGRAM FOR SOURCE CODE I've tried reading it with cpio, tar, and even cat. There is some header info out there. Since this is a back-burner project, rather than digging right now I thought I would ask if anybody has run into this problem, and, if so, could they give me a pointer. Is the tape is some strange format (please don't say volcopy--that would be worthless)? Thanks in advance for any help. -- Kurt Haserodt ..!ihnp4!wucs!kurt Box 1045 Washington University (314)-889-6160 St. Louis, MO 63130 USA

The DWB tape is in "cpio -c" (ASCII headers) format. I had no problem reading it here. Instructions are in Attachment 1 of the DWB SRD that should have come in the manual set.
