[net.unix] What is the UUCP project?

I've seen several articles recently that refer to something called
"The UUCP project." Could somebody please fill me in (VIA MAIL) about
what this project is all about? From what I've seen so far it looks
interesting, so I'd like to get the full story. Thank you.
