[net.unix] Want to connect VMS to our UNIX LAN.

bob@anwar.UUCP (Bob Erickson) (09/26/84)

We have implemented a wonderful local area network using Ethernet and
TCP/IP. We have a pyramid 90x, A Vax 750 and a few Sun systems all
running 4.2 UNIX and talking to each other very nicely.
We also have an Imagen laser printer on the ethernet used by all the
above mentioned computers.

The problem is we also have another Vax 750 running .... VMS (ugh).
And the people on this computer feel divorced from the mainstream of
whats happening at our company. Its also a pain moving files and
data between it and the rest of our computers.

So we are looking for a software package which will run under VMS,
talk to an interlan ethernet controller board and provide at a minimum
telnet and ftp servers. At least that way we can have high speed
data transfer and remote login.

						Any information about
						this is truly appreciated.

The wollongong group makes a product that does exactly what you
want... They are in palo alsto and I think the number is
(415) 962-7100 . I have dealt with them in the past and have
been very pleased. They are also coming out with a full 4.2
network code release for VMS.
