[net.unix] using notes

Question 1:

I would like to get some information about using notes to receive
arpanet maillists. We are running BSD 4.2 (using sendmail) on
a VAX 780. Right now, the way people get access to network mail-
lists is to have an entry in /usr/lib/aliases for each different
list. Each entry is aliased to redistribute the maillist to several
people. This is not as good as notes which only saves one copy for
any number of people to read and also allows a user to control
what they receive themselves.

The "Notesfile Reference Manual" shows an example alias to place mail
addressed to "somenotes" in the notesfile "somenotes":

somenotes: "|/usr/spool/notes/.utilites/nfmail somenotes"

Is this a good way to go? There is a possiblity that we may become
a UseNet site, but not in the near future. If nfmail will work,
where can I get the source? We have the rest of notes, but not
nfmail.

Question 2:

Does anyone have a linprinter filter that will do accounting for
a Symbolics LGP-1 Laser Graphics Printer? The standard filter
/usr/lib/lpf does fine for regular printing, but prints nothing for
any kind of graphics.

Thanks in advance,
