[net.unix] text editor ok for binary files wanted

davidt@ttidca.UUCP (David Terlinden) (01/16/85)

I'd like to know of an editor for Berkeley 4.1 UNIX which can be used to edit
arbitrary binary files. In particular . . .
	1) It should have no line length limitation.
	2) It should not complain about, strip, or modify nulls or characters
past 0x7F, i.e. gracefully handle all 8-bit bytes.

Many of the EMACS derivatives (well, certainly Gosling's does) have this
feature.
