Does anybody know where to find a (on/off) line document describ- ing the features of EYACC. We've heard a lot about it, all kind of wild stories about beautifull error-recovery. We've got the program, but no manual or other paper describing the differences with the old YACC. -- Eddo de Groot, {seismo|philabs|decvax}!mcvax!vu44!botter!ark!groot or ...!mcvax!riv04!eddo

The only documentation I've seen on EYACC so far is in the source for the UCB Berkeley Pascal compiler. A 'READ_ME' in the source for EYACC states that a paper was to be presented at the '79 SIGPLAN meeting. I don't think that they have any cut-and-dryed error recovery routines. I've seen the error recovery in the 'pc' compiler, but I have yet to fully understand how it performs the error recovery.

The paper on eyacc is "Practical LR Error Recovery", by S.L. Graham, C.B. Haley, W.N. Joy, SIGPLAN(14,8) August 1979, pp. 168-175. ACM #0-89791-002-8/79/0800-0168 $00.75. It helps a lot in understanding what is really going on in eyacc. -Robert
