[net.unix] Kermit posted on net.sources

trio@idis.UUCP (02/25/85)

Since many people have been inquiring on Usenet for Kermit, I have posted
the source for Kermit (in C) for UNIX (yeah, it's a trademark of Bell Labs).
I have been successfully running it on a VAX (...trademark of DEC) running
4.2bsd (...whoever's trademark IT is).

Also posted are the Man(ual) pages for Kermit. If anyone has any questions,
please e-mail me (I'm lonely being a grad student in Sociology).

Thanks to Frank de Cruz, Bill Catchings, Columbia University Center for
Computing Activities, et.al., for writing Kermit in the first place. They
really deserve credit!!

Take care y'all

This is a nice Kermit implementation, that has been around for some time now.
I think it is at least the third time I have seen a posting of it (with small
changes) during the last half year. The copyright notice goes back to 1981.

However, it is NOT the "C-Kermit" that was recently announced on the net
(was it by okstate?). The latter is much more comprehensive; I believe it
even implements server mode. But it is too big to post to net.sources,
which is why it can only be had by anonymous ftp or uucp from okstate (I
believe).

Sorry to disappoint you, folks!
