Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an LH/DH 1822 Host-IMP interface for the Sun, whereby a Sun WS could interface directly to an IMP? I have a co-worker who asks me about this, and don't know what to tell him. Thanks, Pat Sullivan DCEC Reston, VA

There is an 1822 board for the Sun. Glenn Hastie (hastie@sri-spam) wrote a driver for it. ACC makes the board. I believe that the no one has actually tested the board hooking it up to an IMP, it has been tested with Packet Radio, though. Howard. PS it should work just fine -- the sun has all of the berkeley IMP software in it.

Uh... I dont think so. You really don't want to do this. If money is an object, build a fuzzball or something as a gateway machine that plugs into the IMP and have it output packets on the ethernet. That way you don't have to kludge up the sun and it'll offload the gateway functions onto the fuzzware... Milo

Actually, I think it would be much cheaper to buy the 1822 board for a Sun (I assume they already have one and are asking if they can connect it up to the arpanet) than to buy the hardware for a fuzzball, or a normal gateway... unless they already have the right hardware laying around. Howard.
