[net.unix] *bib.c WANTED

mazur@harvard.ARPA (Eric Mazur) (08/13/85)

I just started using such programs as lookbib, addbib and indxbib for my
databases. I had previously written my own little database program that did
the job reasonably well. But since its better to have a 'standard' format
for databases, I converted everything to the *bib format.

I must admit though, that I HATE the output generated by lookbib, and I don't
want to use roffbib every time. Isn't there someone who has written some
kind of nicer version of lookbib where one can define how to display records
found in a search? This could for instance be done the same way a promptfile
is defined for addbib. Something like (for instance):

  "%T" written by %A, published in %J, %V(%D)%P.

would cause the records to be displayed as:

"Title of publication" written by Authors, published in Journal, V(19XX)nnn.

I'd love to have a copy of such a program! My system is
a DEC PRO350 with Venix, but any Unix version is more than welcome.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
