Does anybody know what Unisoft has deleted or added in their release of SysVr2? I am working on one of those projects which will eventually have to be ported all over the place, and I would like to know what to leave out or think hard about. I do not have a set of AT&T SysV manuals, and even if I did, I would probably not find the time to go through page by page noting differences. So has anybody (Unisoft?) compiled a list? One a peon can get at? Thanks muchly -- liz sommers My "best address" will soon be changing to topaz!mama!liz but I can still be reached at: uucp: ...{seismo, ut-sally,ihnp4!packard}!topaz!sommers arpa: sommers@rutgers

> > Does anybody know what Unisoft has deleted or added in their release of > SysVr2? > liz sommers Here is a 'basic' list of whats new 1) SGS C compiler/assembler .... the MIT stuff is no more (actually we will be distributing it with 5.2 so that users can use their old code files/librarys, it is called cc5.0/as5.0 etc, this is only in 5.2 we will not be shipping it with future major releases). Note the assembler has a new (Motorolla) syntax. 2) With the above stuff you get COFF format files (note the old compiler system makes a.out, again for this release only the kernel supports a.out as well as COFF so you can run your old code files). 3) sdb - which after all is the main reason for COFF. 4) terminfo and curses 5) record locking (5.2 compatable) 6) shl - shell layering 7) 4.2BSD networking, B-NET is now 4.2 compatable with all the goodies that means. 8) nami caching that is a brief list of whats there, the only thing I can think of that has been removed is more which is replaced by pg.
