EMT traps on the PDP-11 occur when you execute an EMT instruction. The EMT instruction is the same as the TRAP instruction except that it uses a different vector. DEC operating systems use EMT's for system calls. If there is no floating-point hardware, executing a floating-point instruction will cause an *illegal instruction* trap.
