[net.unix] Benchmarks for Vaxen

*** why should i REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE ***
My boss has requested some effort be put into benchmarking our Vaxen
(3 780s, 1 750, 1 uvax1, etc) for the purposes of finding obvious anomalies
(one 780 was not using interleaved memory which showed up in memory
i/o rates) and to increase my intuitive understanding of UNIX (yours
truly is an IBM refugee) to help during upcoming combat with vendors
when we go out for more capacity.

Currently, we have used the AIM II benchmark, 'gprof'ed the kernel on
one bsd4.2 machine, and have started putting together a homegrown test stream.
I have also gleaned the Dhrystone source from the net and will be trying
that out soon on our systems to compare with the results posted on the
net.

Question: is that all there is? What do other sites do for this task?
Has anyone profiled the kernel on the ELXSI's version of UNIX? Has anyone
successfully profiled the kernel under ULTRIX (DEC is unable to help at
this time)? Does anyone have a benchmark that relates to networking
functions instead of straight kernel crunching (I suspect that is a tough
one)?

Your information will be much appreciated and, of course, we will share
our humble store of results if I can successfully get this posted.
