[net.unix] 'Clarification of help with gettytab.c request

Thank you for the responses to my request for help with gettytab.c for
a 1200-300-2400 loop. 
I did want to clarify my request though, to add, that we are running
under System III on a Plexus P60.
Many responses have pointed to modifying /etc/gettydefs (sp?)
I am not finding this file on our system, nor reference to it in our 
manuals. Is this possibly a System V feature?
