[net.unix] HP LaserJet on a 3B2--Interface program needed.

bob@westpt.UUCP (Cpt Robert A. Hernandez) (03/17/86)

Does anyone have a good interface program for the 3B2 line printer
spooling system to interface with an HP LaserJet Plus via RS232 using
xon/xoff?

We are curently using the LQP-40 (letter quality printer using xon/xoff)
Model supplied with the LP Spooling Utilities. It works, but does not
provide the capability to use all the LaserJet's functions. What we are
looking for is a program that would give options for the lp command that
would tell the LaserJet stuff like portrait or landscape orientation,
number of lines per inch, number of copies, and any other goodies.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've posted an LP interface and a script that we use locally. We use a Centronics
port in this particular case but it should be readily adaptable...
