[net.unix] On Writing Code in Small Modules

tanner@ki4pv.UUCP (Tanner Andrews) (05/15/86)

It's not just that it's faster to compile the module that got
changed. It's also the fact that, above a certain size, the editor
("vi") won't load the file on a 8086-family CPU with intel's release
of xenix. Curse this segmented architecture which makes it so easy
to upgrade old 4004 code, but so hard to write new code.

Anyone know if this editor limitation ever got fixed? Now running
xenix 3.0b from intel; info on any future versions would be appreciated.
Anyone out there manage to edit a 64K file under xenix? What version?
