[net.unix] SCO XENIX: Popping the kernel

romwa@utcs.UUCP (06/16/86)

I have recently heard that SCO is overcrowding XENIX with so many device
drivers that there is little room to add more than one more to the system.
Since at least a tape drive and perhaps a high speed serial port driver
are likely additions to the system, then what's person to do?

Does anybody have any experience with this sort of problem in overloading
the XENIX kernel? I am contemplating installation of several more of
these systems on Sperry ITs and would like to be sure about this.

Also, it has been brought to my attention that Computone's ATvantage-X
serial board and Bell Technologies' 60Mb Cartridge tape use the same
interrupt line making their cohabitation on the same system impossible.
Again, does anybody have any experience in these matters?
