hey, unix fans! check out the article in "unix review" july issue on page 50. it's an interview with richard searle, a vp at citibank/tti, the technical arm of citibank. they have decided to do their transaction processing ALL ON UNIX! this decision was reached after requesting proposals from ibm, tandem, stratus, and dec. they didn't think that any of those proposals made any sense whatsoever since they were wanting to get AWAY from proprietary EVERYTHING.... read it, and weep vms fans! this is the day i've been waiting for. the largest banking institution in the world does what UNIX has been needing for a long time -- large scale corporate implementation. (i'm an ex-electronic funds transfer guy from a major bank, so i'm particularly excited about this.) please copy every man, woman, and child on earth. rick barrett convex!smu!rab
