Does anyone know what the consequences of inserting a 14 Mhz crystal in a 3b2/400 (which is the same cpu in the 3b15) instead of the 10 Mhz crystal presently distributed? to me this seems to be the only major difference between the 3b2/400 and the 3b15 - is this a GOOD cheap way to make a 3b15?? does anyone know if it's possible to put more than 4 M of RAM on the 3b2/400?? or a 60M tape drive instead of the 23M currently installed??? -- From the world of Paladin: ihnp4!gargoyle!paladin!bobg (Bob Goldberg)

The WE32100 chips come at different clock speeds (usually written on the top) if you put a 14MHz rock in a 10Mhz system it may not work. Also the rest of the system (ie memory etc) may also be too slow .... in short it is probably not a good idea although it might work if you have good spec parts. Look for side effects (like your time of day running fast ....) Paul Campbell
