Newsgroups: net.news,net.micro.pc In-Reply-To: <6158@sun.uucp> Organization: Calculon Corp., Arlington Va. Cc: Bcc: Sir: This is being posted from just such a machine. Bell Technologies Micro-Engine, SCO XENIX Beta 2.2 Cmerge Compiler, 86 MB. Winny, 60 MB tape, 6 serial (rs-232) ports, 7 MB DRAM. My news stuff was compiled on an Altos 2086 running Xenix 3.0, and all resulting code moved to this machine, by Ron Flax of (...ihnp4!seismo!men1!ron). Have just today received new Cmerge compiler & associated libraries from SCO, and they seem to work as one would expect. (i.e. PROPERLY !!!) TRC, available from mod.sources, compiled properly w/ new compiler. (Minor problem w/ p_out.c, but nothing impossible to deal w/). Same source blew original MicroSoft/SCO compiler halfway to Mars. Suggest you; 1) Write above gentleman re comments. kluges, fixes, etc. 2) Aggravate SCO re getting decent compiler (see above) which will handle "rn" source. SCO seems to be decent outfit, a bit swamped w/ routine support chores. Fortunately, they *DO* have some competent & conscientous people who, once they realize you *DO* have a legitimate gripe, will do everything they can to FIX it. 3) Write Larry Wall re difficulties.. he may well have adjusted (NOT KLUGED_UP !!!), (ADJUSTED & IMPROVED, don't you see ??) source which would obviate the need for a reasonable compiler.
