some time ago, i recall an article that provided information on doing assembly language work on the 3b2. can someone redistribute that information once more? we would like to move an assembly language course from an old 11/70 to the 3b2, and are trying to see if we can find a good reference manual and text book. thanks for the research. rick barrett convex!smu!rab

The U. of Ill. has an assembler course based on 3B2's (which I've TA'd in the past). Your best bet is to get a (5620|DMD|Blit) terminal manual. It has information on how to use the assembler (as) in it. Alternatively, you could contact professors Kamin (uiucdcs!kamin) or Kaplan (uiucdcs!kaplan). Prof. Kamin is currently teaching the course, and Prof. Kaplan taught it last semester, and will again next semester. Or, you can talk to me (uiucdcs!uiucdcss!carroll). The title of my manual is : 5620 Dot-Mapped Display Software Developer Application Guide

Does this include information how to access the System V kernel from assembler, i.e. what the parameters for GATE are? How much is it? (i.e., could I afford to buy one personally, or it that possible?)
