[net.unix] XENIX help needed: weird behavior

jwp@uwmacc.UUCP (Jeffrey W Percival) (10/17/86)

I am posting this for a friend who is running XENIX on a Mega XT (?).
He has a few quirks in his system, maybe related, maybe not.
1. If you queue up a print file, nothing happens at the printer
until the system is rebooted. Then the file appears.
2. The console screen (it's a CRT) occasionally blanks out.
3. A user was using Vi, when suddenly the session turned chaotic.
By setting his terminal to 4800 baud and doing a cntl/L, he
restored order to his editing session. But when he did a :wq,
his shell prompt was garbaged, and he was able to restore order
by setting his terminal back to 9600!

If anybody recognizes any pattern here, or if you can give me
even some general thoughts on this, I'd sure appreciate it.
(I have a lot of 2.8BSD experience, but little XENIX experience.)
