[net.unix] Lachman's NFS for AT&T UNIX V Rel. 2 Ver. 2.0 for VAX 11/78Xs

seb022@tijc02.UUCP (Scott Bemis ) (10/24/86)

I need to be able to read from and write to a file system from
many VAXes running UNIX V Release 2 Version 2.0. Is this
feature available from Lachman's NFS ? I am NOT familar with
  the features of NFS.

Does Lachman's RFS run ONLY with UNIX V Release 3?

NFS will allow you to read from and write to a file system from any machine
running NFS; that's the only "feature" of NFS that comes into play. If
Lachman or somebody else has an NFS for VAX S5R2 V2.0, you can do what
you're trying to do. (Lachman's NFS is a "reference model", used primarily
as a starting point for ports, but the "reference model" may also be a VAX
version requiring no extra work.)

Presumably, since to the best of my knowledge RFS runs only on S5R3.
