There is, in fact, quite a difference between the Christian communion and the memorial weenie roast, whatever the motivation behind the weenie roast. At first glance the name "memorial weenie roast" strikes me as indicating a rather light affair. A bit of fun, perhaps to break the tension, perhaps to raise some eyebrows. Communion, on the other hand, has very deep and spiritual meaning for those christians who participate. We are communing with and coming in closer contact with our God and our saviour, one who is not dead, in a manner which he himself prescribed. It is not a memorial. It is, in fact, a communion.
