Once more... net.suicide was cooked up one night at a dinner party, in the early days when netnews was exploding but not yet quite a self-parody. It's based on the following classified ad in Monty Python's Big Red Book: NEW MEMBERS urgently required for Suicide Club, Watford area. Once every six months, somebody stands up and says it all started with motorcycle helmets. Wrong. (The original message is lost to history, but it went something like: When I was in school, we had a suicide club but the membership kept dropping off. Anyone out there interested in starting a suicide club on the net? )
