[net.suicide] People caring for people

It seems that nothing like personal experience helps to bring us to an
understanding of others who are reaching out, looking for acceptance, loving,
caring, or just some kindness.

Having lived alone, single, for the last eight years, I have had the
experiences that many others have had, undoubtedly. I have experienced the
hope of some permanence in my relationships with others--and had those hopes
dashed. I have felt the goodness in others as well as the bad; perhaps the
fear of the unpleasantness of saying goodbye has caused me to retreat a bit
from others. Sometimes you wonder why you get up in the morning; but of
course there are things that *must* be done. Keeping busy seems to be an
end in itself.

Well, I know. I keep on looking forward to the future and wanted to share
with you a feeling or two. I am involved with several community services, so
I know that sharing feelings can be a great therapy--it is for me. I guess I
also wanted to say that here we are, detached from one another, and yet,
hopefully, connected enough to say "We care."
