# I hereby request the newsgroup `net.psych' be created for discussion of topics related to psychology, psychiatry, and behavior. This idea has been rolling around in my head for some time now; I thought of it when I saw the `Time Perception' articles, when clinical depression was being discussed in net.suicide, and now subjectivity and objectivity and the effects of electroshock therapy are being discussed in net.philosophy. (I don't read net.med due to having too much else to read but I'm sure there is relevant stuff there too). Clearly the issue of psychology is looking for a home, and is borrowing other newsgroups for lack of one! [ Please post responses in net.news.group, as I only made this multi-post to get the attention of relevant/interested parties ]

As an alternative to creating YA special purpose low volume topic on a
specific subject, can I suggest that we finally get a nice general purpose
science oriented topic created? We don't NEED another net.bio. We don't NEED
another net.astro. We could definitely use some place for these discussions
so that we aren't constantly inundated with requests for special purpose
newsgroups. We could even call this topic something like net.science or
even (gasp, oh, deja vu!) net.sci.

Is it REALLY necessary to carry on a discussion re creation of another newsgroup in five (5) newsgroups? Isn't there a newsgroup for the purpose of discussing creation of new newsgroups? USE IT!
