I dunno. Maybe I was raised in a world where logic and common sense over-
ruled semantics and ideology. But the fact is for me, if I had an incurable
illness, why wait for the disease to do it and stay in pain for God knows how
long? One of man's main psychological drives (not needs) is to avoid pain.
And I don't see how that could be done over a long period of time without in-
credible mental and physical stamina._I_ certainly don't have it.
Euthanasia is an old question. But for me the answer is simple. If the
person in question would rather die now than waiting in pain for an indeter-
minable time for "God" to do it then that person's wish should be honored.
Hooray for the Living Will. It's the best piece of literature to come out of
America since "The Catcher in the Rye".
