My experience with net suicide in the past weeks has made me a little doubtful as to the purpose of this newsgroup. I was one of the ones "censored" by rabbit!bimmler and his sophomoric cohorts, and I didn't much like it. I was also among the black-humorist kind of writers on this net, because it was fun, and there seemed to be little else that the newsgroup existed for. After the "takeover", I began to wonder. There really should be a place for people to write if they are very depressed and thinking about suicide, or are having problems with suicidal people. A place that is free of other trash ( the S/N ratio in the past couple of weeks has been atrocious ) where the serious people can talk. We black-humor people might use the |-) on our headers, or leave for net.jokes. People like rabbit!bimmler ( I over- compliment him with the term) should just leave entirely, as all they wanted to do was write a lot of tortured-intellectual bullshit and drool all over one another. I suggest we create a net.tortured_intellectual for them to wallow in, and for the rabbit buggerer himself there should be a net.takeover - a net for anyone to take over who can. Net suicide should remain for reasonable use, as a place to deal with such problems as depression and suicide. A supportive net, not one filled entirely with stupid people who want to censor. Ideas? Jack of Shadows. (UCSD)

I think it is extremely important for some of us to remember that we should not feel guilt over a friends suicide. It is ultimately their choice, though a tragic one. This is tough to live with, but we have to. EAS c/o Nelson

Many of the net gurus have had discussions about removing low trafic groups. Mostly, they are justified, as it will prevent people from starting up again. This is one low traffic group that just justified itself. net.suicide has a place -- it is a haven for that final "cry for help". Through net.suicide, the net reflects its humanity and helps those on it who need support. In the case of "misc ramplings", we did that. If net.suicide saves even only one life, isn't it worth it.
