[net.info-terms] New Heath ZT-1 terminal questions

marcw@sri-unix (07/16/82)

I just received the latest Heath catalog and it features (on page 38-39) a new
terminal with such nifty features as:
	* Detachable keyboard (or so it seems from the picture)
	* Built in 24-hour clock
	* 25 line 80 character 12 inch monochrome (green) display
	* "Built-in cues and prompts" (what ever that means)
	* Centronics style parallel interface
	* Bell 103 compatible 300 baud modem with answer and dial capability
It seems to be available only as an assembled unit, not as a kit. The price is
$699.00 plus shipping etc.. With the 10% discount coupon, even including
shipping, it should cost no more than about $650.00. Does anyone know anything
good or bad about this terminal? Is it UNIX(tm) compatible (dose it have "|",
"^", "{", upper/lower case etc.)? Can you put a standard RS-232 port on it to
use as a hard-wired terminal or with another (1200 baud) modem? What kind of
(if any) cursor controls does it have? Would a termcap for an H-19 work for
this machine?

Please send me any responses (the sooner the better, the 10% discount is only
good for a month) and I'll summarize on the net.
