[net.info-terms] Teletype's BLIT?

david (04/19/83)

The April 21 issue of Electronics contains an article (pg. 170) on
the Teletype 5620 bit-mapped terminal (aka BLIT). It contains a
Bellmac 32 and 256K of RAM and lists for $6115; deliveries are to
begin in the fourth quarter.
The green phosphor CRT is 8 (wide) x 10 1/4 (high) inches
and 800 x 1024 pixels (100 pixels/inch).
According to the article, a software support package (which includes
"a UNIX-like operating system written specifically for the 5620,
a screen formatter and multiplexing software that allows the unit
to appear to the system to be more than one terminal") will be
available from Western Electric (not AT&T??), and runs under System V.
