The Guru command set is a superset of the Ambassador controls, so you should be able to use your old aaa termcaps for the Guru as well. If you want to take advantage of the capabilities added to the Guru, start with your favorite Ambassador termcap and make a few changes. You can change the number of lines displayed (li) to anything from 16 to 66 or keep it at any of the Ambassador values (18, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 36, 40, 48, 60). The line length displayed (co) can be anything up to 170 columns. If your visual start (vs) and visual end (ve) strings reset the memory and display size, you may also want to change them to reset the memory size or display size (or both) to something larger than the 60 line 80 column maximum for the Ambassador. In visual mode you want to restrict the memory size to the same size you specify for the display. When you exit visual mode, you can specify a memory size (independent of display size) of up to 250 lines with 80 columns or up to 255 columns with 30 lines or choose something in between. The Genie is also similar to the Ambassador, but more limited. It can only display 18 to 30 lines and 80 columns, and the max- imum memory size is 80 columns by 30 lines (or 60 lines if you have a Genie Plus). I am working on a set of UNIX applications notes for the Ambassa- dor, most of which would be applicable to the Guru, less to the Genie. I hope to have them ready for distribution at the January UNIX conference. We have a preliminary version available right now. Send me mail if you want either or both.
