The Computing Center here at IU is trying to bring up "EUNICE" on a Vax 11/780 running VMS and we have encountered a number of problems A major problem is that a simple "man who" generates an infinite loop of error messages as follows: [EUNICE: $CREATE failed, Status= %1829a - %RMS-E-PRV-insufficient privilege or file protection violation [EUNICE: $CONNECT failed, Status= %18564- invalid internal file identifier value or file protection violation [EUNICE: $PUT failed, Status= %x18584- couldn't get message string [EUNICE: $PUT failed, ................invalid internal stream id value This occurs after it has given the message: "Reformatting page, wait.." There is also a file in /tmp created called 'man49', which seems to have the file which has been formatted for output to the terminal or whatever. The file protection on most of the files is only READ,EXECUTE for World which could be the source of the problem. Another problem is that the "login.csh" file is not executed upon login, altho' it is executed properly if you manually do it with "source login.csh". has anybody out there encountered similar problems bringing up EUNICE or have any ideas as to the best solution? thanks for any help!
