Help! I am having trouble getting a VAX 11/780 running 4.1BSD and a VAX 11/782 running VMS with EUNICE 3.2 to talk to each other using uucp. It appears to be a protocol problem (a bug in the EUNICE version?), because the 780 talks to several other real unix machines without any trouble. Could this be a configuration problem? If so, what am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Here is a log of uucico -x9: wanted rname: _______________________Case_Institute_of_Technology_____________________Case_Western_Reserve_University__________Center_for_Automation_and_Intelligent_Systems_Research______________________Research_Computing_Facility_____Username:got that send <something from L.sys> RETURN NO NL wanted ssword: _UUCP__Password:got that send <something from L.sys> RETURN NO NL imsg > ---- Welcome to the Intelligent Systems Research Computing Facility-- (VAX/VMS V3.6 with EUNICE V3.2 running UNIX BSD 4.1)---- On line information can be read by typing: NEWS-- LAST MODIFIED: 19-Oct-1984-- Please read the news.----Today is Friday 19-OCT-1984--< Shere-imsg >-< ROK-msg-ROK Rmtname twgvax, my Role MASTER, Spool - /usr/spool/uucp Ifn - 3, Ofn - 3, Loginuser - root rmesg - 'P' imsg >-< Pg-got Pg wmesg 'U'g send 73 rec h->cntl 73 send 61 state - 1 rec h->cntl 61 send 53 state - 3 rec h->cntl 53 state - 10 Proto started g protocol g *** TOP *** - role=1, Wfile = /usr/spool/uucp/C.twgvaxn0gVz Spool = /usr/spool/uucp wkpre = C.twgvax wrkvec[0] = S wrkvec[1] = /u/diamant/etc/resume.rno wrkvec[2] = /usr/spool/uucppublic wrkvec[3] = diamant wrktype S, User - diamant wrktype - S, fileno - 5 wmesg 'S' /u/diamant/etc/resume.rn send 210 send 220 rmesg - 'S' rec h->cntl 41 state - 10 rec h->cntl 10 state - 6000 rec h->cntl 10 state - 6000 rec h->cntl 117 bad header 0,h->ccntl 117 rec h->cntl 117 bad header 0,h->ccntl 117 alarm 1 send 40 alarm 2 send 40 alarm 3 send 40 AERROR - (ret == HDRSIZ) PKXSTART ret 0got FAIL ret from cntrl - -1 send OO -1,imsg >< exit code 0 The place where the truncated file name appears is suspicious, but I tried sending a file with a shorter name in case a buffer was overflowing or something. The error was the same. By the way, what is involved in setting the system name in Eunice? Is this hardcoded, or do I just have to change a logical?
