[net.eunice] Does the IP/TCP server program support rwho?

bwp@utcs.UUCP (Bruce Pinn) (11/29/84)

While running strings on the file etc:server.exe I noticed that the
code apparently supports the generation of rwho packets; sending rwho
packets to any site listed in the file etc:rwhohost.dat. Clearly this
feature is unsupported, but... does it work, and if so how?

Oh, thanks to all who replied to my question regarding reading the
IP/TCP routing tables from /dev/kmem. My attempt at porting the routing
deamon seems to work.

The IP/TCP server program does indeed support rwho packets. Unfortunately,
the version distributed by Wollongong is still using the 4.1c BSD rwho
packet format (which is rejected by 4.2 hosts). When the 4.2 upgrade is
distributed by Wollongong [it will be for VMS 4.0] the correct rwho packets
will be generated and accepted.
