Back in the 60's I had checked out NRBQ's first album from the local
library. I thoroughly enjoyed 'Rocket #9' (written by Sun Ra if I
remember right), as well as a couple others. Later I tried to find
a copy and couldn't find the first album but tried a couple others.
Kind of country funk, I liked some but not others. Recently I finally
found a copy of the first album, it may have been re-issued. If you
liked Rocket #9, you'll probably like the album 'Carl Perkins with NRBQ'
as it has 2 wacky numbers, "Dr. Howard Dr. Fine Dr. Howard" and
"Flat Foot Floozy" which I liked for similar reasons as "Rocket #9"
On a similar note, anyone remember "Juicy Lucy"? They had about 5 albums
out, several of which I have. The first was by far the best, as the
deep voiced vocalist (I forgot his name) was only on that one.
