A word of warning just occurred to me.... If you install my mods to delivermail (or any equivalent scheme whereby the header doesn't reflect the path outgoing mail actually uses), be certain that your rmail uses path aliasing, or remote 'reply' commands will break. That is, if you send out a header that says To: host!jane, foo!bar jane's 'reply' command will try to reach 'foo' through your machine; obviously, this fails if 'foo' is really a path alias. This is not a problem if you use a ucbmail front-end like ucf-cs!tim's, or if your delivermail mungs the headers it finds (I think sendmail does just that).
