I just realized that some of the people that see these changes may not
have read the article I posted in other newsgroups.
These modifications are for the 4.3BSD su command. I prefer modifications
to having yet another new command to maintain.
A full explanation of the modifications is discussed in an article
posted to comp.unix.questions, comp.unix.wizards, and comp.bugs.4bsd.
You can also get most of the information from the manual page changes
and comments found in the diffs.
