It was with great sadness that I learned that the final scene to the FINAL episode of M*A*S*H was filmed yesterday. The last show, which will air on 28 February, will run as a 2 or 2.5 hour movie depicting the end of the Korean War and the breaking up of the 4077th. The show, now in its 11th season, is not ending due to low ratings (it still places 3rd on the Neilson's list, behind 60 Minutes and Dallas) but rather because the crew wants to end it before it does start declining. Its producers are hoping to, in the future, star Harry Morgan, Jamie Farr, and William Christopher in a post-war M*A*S*H, in which the three will be working together in a Veteran's Hospital. So we must now bid farewell to an American legacy. May the reruns live on forever!
