I had an English instructor in college who used to tell amusing anecdotes (though sometimes I felt my leg was being pulled!) He told us that his home used to have a Nielson box in it. However, the box was yanked from his home because he almost exclusively watched Channel 13 (PBS station in NY area) and not Laverne & Shirley etc. Therefore, he wasn't considered a good sample.
