The PBS station WNET-13 in Newark is starting a new local series April 15 at 10:00 PM called INNOVATION. I copy here a couple of paragraphs from the DIAL magazine on the series. "One innovation of the series, assembled at Thirteen's Newark production facility, is its concentration on research and development under way in New Jersey, a state dotted with more than 700 laboratories. New Jersey has the highest concentration of engineers, scientists, and technicians per capita in the United States, where science and technology is a five-billion-dollar-a-year industry. Each week INNOVATION will feature a single issue, and each program will be divided into three distinct elements: a cover story, a technology update, and an in-studio interview. At press time, the first two programs are scheduled to be about computers and genetic engineering. Other areas of interest to the INNOVATION team include cancer research, extending the human life-span, space technology, and serendipity, or the pleasures of discovering one thing while searching for another."
