I am not going to offer my opinion of "V." I think everyone has mentioned everything I liked and disliked about the movie before me, so you don't need a rehash. My only comments are on the Nazi allegory. First of all my thanks to the gentleman who pointed out the simmilarity between the UN Secretary General and Neville Chamberland. I had missed that one, but you are right, that must be what they were pointing out. As for the tactics, and "wouldn't people realize what was happening." I am afraid the answer is no. If it doesn't effect you, then it is easy to decide that maybe it is fair. Who do YOU blaim for things, the air com- trollers? The auto unions? The Japanese? The Politicians? Scientists? Democrats? Republicans? It is easy to make a scapegoat and sacrifice them rather then to face problems and deal with them. It is also easy to use a fake scapegoat to gain power. In 1952, just 6 years after the war a Senator named Joe McCarthy ruined the lives of thousands of innocent Americans by branding them "Communists." If it could happen just 6 years after a war which had 6,000,000 innocent peo- ple killed, it could happen now. Those that don't know their history, ARE doomed to repeat it.
