I read in the Chicago Sun-Times a couple of weeks ago that Ray was out west (Ariz. or New Mexico) doing some kind of work with a tv station. For you non-Chicago people, Ray had a daily early morning (7-8 am) kids show. He had lots of Warner Bros cartoons. He also gave the weather and sports scores for the Chicage teams, and had school closings in the winter when the snows hit. He had do-it-yourself projects and drew pictures. Once, over a month or so, he drew pictures out of each letter of the alphabet, and related it to something that started with that letter. He had contests. He also did pantomiming to records (both songs and comedy skits - Newhart`s for 1 ) mouthing the words. He had a pet duck that came on once in a while named _____- I save this for you Rayner fans. For a while, he went on visits to see a friend of his, a large orange dog that talked. They`d open mail that kids sent in with jokes or pictures. Again, I`ll leave the name for someone else to fill in. They sold a lot of those stuffed dogs around here. Rayner also performed in local theaters in plays. A very talented man that I watched while eating my Rice Krispies before I went to grammer school. Oh, he also played a clown on the noontime kids show, BOZO`S CIRCUS, for a while. One more time, I`ll defer to another Chicago person for the name, cause quite honestly, I don`t remember. I`m sure other towns had their version of Ray Rayner. Anyone up to reliving their childhood memories? Tom O`Connor BTL- NAPERVILLE
