[net.tv] David Letterman, LWIII, and comic

b
I just got back from the Highland Folk Festival in Tilton NH (which I
mentioned in a previous note). There was a comedian there who was
amazingly funny, and the claim was that he will be on the David
Letterman show on October the 4th. his name was something like
Jay Lenno (he wasn't on the program, so I'm not sure). Anyway I'd
just like to predict that it will be worth watching.

By the way Loudon Wainwright III was not at his best. He was quite
mild, maybe calmed by the folk aura (hah!). Though he did sing
"dead skunk", which I'd thought he didn't do anymore. "THAT old
thing", he said when the audience was screaming for it.

So now the two topics LWIII and David Letterman have been fused.

Jay Leno is kind of a regular on LNw/DL. He is probably
one of the funniest of the stand-up/less known comedians around.
Recently there was a letter written to David Letterman on his
"viewer mail" segment that said "I like your show more
than life itself." Dave disputed this fact by showing what
each had to offer, his show, and life:

His Show Life Itself
-------- -----------
Stupid Pet Tricks The Circle Line Cruise
Paul Schaffer Ant Farms
Jay Leno Neil Diamond
                                 Red Licorice
                                 The Motion Picture
                                    "Zapped"
                                 Starring Scott Baio

By the way, for people interested in joining a local "LNw/DL"
mailing list I have set up, send me mail and I will put you
on the list.

Jay Leno (sp?) is indeed a VERY funny comedian. He has routines on such
topics as a naked hot dog vendor (sort of boggles the man, don't it?) to
satires on Star Trek ("Bones, while you are up, would you get me a TAB?"
"Damnit, Jim. I'm a Doctor, not a waiter!") and observations on various
ads ("now the milk institute is advertising all the things you can have
with you milk, like 'milk and cookies.' Wow! What a great idea, milk and
cookies ...WHO KNEW??!!!") He is definatly worth seeing on Letterman, with
LWIII, especially if Bugs Bunnys is singing (had to add in another topic to
this after all).

Jay Leno (not Lenno) has been a frequent guest on DL for the past couple
years.

I think he's pretty funny, but his humor is sometimes overshadowed by that
of the King of Sarcasm.
