Forbes magazine says, "Alda's popularity thrills Warner Comminications, which reportedly will pay Alda between $5 million and $10 million to be the pitchman for it's Atari division for five years." That's one to two million a year. For five years!

#R:ihuxe:-34600:uicsl:12200015:000:597 uicsl!preece Oct 3 09:51:00 1983 It has been asked what Alan Alda's ten million dollars works out to when divided by "actual hours worked." The problem is defining that last phrase. Alda's reputation and image are what is working, not just the actor himself. Thus every time one of those ads runs on tv or in a newspaper, Alda is providing something to Warner/Atari. He has very good credibility, so his support should be worth quite a bit to Atari. in simple hourly terms he probably going spend as much time on Atari as he would on two or three movies, so the payment isn't even that unreasonable in terms of his normal salary.
