Funny, I remember seeing that quotation attributed to Bogolyubov.
Can a third party provide any confirmation either way?

I think you are right, the quote can be found in "Maxims of Chess" by
John Collins. I will verify it tonight.
 p.s.
       Tchigorin can be found losing two games with black, in "1000
Great Short Games of Chess".

The quote attributed to Tchigorin was in fact uttered by Bogolyubov!
