In followup of uicsl!preece, I want to add support for Alan Alda. He did not capitalize on his popularity while he was making MASH. He spent years building up his credibility and generating a positive image. He has shunned publicity in his personal life and has been very popular (in some groups) for his views on many issues, He has spent much time and energy in developing the reputation he has. Now that MASH is over, he is trying to make CASH (Cancel Army Surgical Hospital). These commercials will probably do some damage to his credibilty and reputation (especially if the Atari becomes obsolete). Part of his price may be compensating him for this damage. In any case, why shouldn't he be getting paid for his services. What about all the sports figures (not to mention the royal British family) who get paid for doing less? -- -=> Avi E.
