[net.tv] Nuclear survivors in Japan

marc@pyuxn.UUCP (11/19/83)

It is true that Japan survived Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is also true
that todays bombs have on the order of 500 times more explosive killing
force then in 1945. Enough said.

A nuclear bomb with 500 times the explosive power of the Hiroshima
bomb (which was ~20kt, so you're talking 10mt, quite large) only
covers about 10 times the area. Besides, most of the Hiroshima
casualties were caused by the firestorm fed by wooden buildings
and overturned breakfast fires. Most importantly, THESE DISCUSSIONS
SHOULD BE IN NET.POLITICS; please people, let's discuss TV here.

P.S. Anyone willing to talk about the movie on it's *artistic*
merits? I found it quite shallow, but they may be because they
cut it down from 4 hours. I think it had numerous flaws, and
I also think I'll continue my discussion thereof in a future
submission.
