I found in the paper the results of a tounament held in Nikisic, Yugoslavia. This event was quite extraordinary in the strength of its participants, which included three former world champions: I would guess that the average Elo (FIDE) rating was about 2575 (!!!). Anyway I mention this because Garrik Kasparov (USSR) had a performance worthy of Bobby Fisher. (A performance of 2790 in a single tournament is something that almost only world champions achieve, though Fisher, as you may know, managed to keep an AVERAGE rating of 2785 in his golden days.
